Why you are enough

A message for every Christian mom

picnic in the hills

Have you ever gone to bed feeling like you just didn't do enough, teach enough, clean enough or just plain be enough? You are not alone.

As moms, especially homeschooling moms, it can fell like we are carrying the weight of the world. The house isn't spotless, the kids aren't reading as fast as we hoped and dinner looks more like "cereal and sandwiches" than "Pinterest worthy meals."

Then at the end of the day we whisper to ourselves: I didn't measure up.

But here is the truth I want you to hold close today: in Christ you are already enough.

You don't have to be the perfect mom

Proverbs 31 paints a beautiful picture of a virtuous woman and sometimes we treat it like an impossible checklist. But the point of that passage isn't to weigh us down. It is to inspire us toward godly living. You were never called to be perfect. You were called to be faithful and there is a big difference.

2 Corinthians 12:9 reminds us, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Your imperfections are not failures they are places where God's grace shines the brightest.

God hand picked you for your family

Out of all the moms in the world, God chose you to mother your children. That was not an accident. He knew your strengths, your quirks and yes even your weaknesses and still said: This is the one.

You don't have to compare yourself to the mom on Instagram with the spotless house and perfectly behaved kids. Your children need you, the mom who loves them deeply, teaches them with patience and points them to Jesus.

Stop striving, start resting

So much of our exhaustion comes from striving. Whether you are trying to earn approval, prove ourselves, or do it all. But Jesus offers us something better. Matthew 11:28 says, "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest."

Rest does not come from crossing off every task on the list. Rest comes from leaning into Him.

A gentle reminder for today

Mama, you are not falling short. You are not "less than." You are not failing.

You are a beloved daughter of the King.

You are chosen.

You are equipped.

And you are enough; right here, right now.

So the next time that little voice says, "you're not doing enough" remember who you belong to and what He says about you.
